This song is a co-write I did with Susan Harrison Ross. She created a peace card back in the 80's that became the lyric to the chorus. The verses trace a bit of my spiritual unfolding leading to the "huh?" of the last verse. It's being "covered" by several folks including Anne Hills and her trio. They haven't recorded it yet... but I can dream can't I?

In Sunday school they taught us there was one way to the truth
I tried to make sense of that all the way through my youth
But the circle of the chosen was so small I had to…
Leave it behind, hoping to find, some peace of mind…Like …
CHORUS

I Meditated, hallucinated, vegetated like all of my friends.
But the the gurus the shamans & the avatars led to dead ends
I tried tai chi, & tantra and even
At the risk of my soul(s), I took a stroll, across burning coals… for a… CHORUS

Studied religions philosophy, psychology, & millions of words…
Soon my textbooks and holy books all seemed absurd
While marvels and miracles and mystery 
Stories abound, I eventually found, just one common ground… that is CHORUS

There are nearly four thousand religions on the planet today
Nearly all teach their children that theirs is the chosen way
Stepping back just a moment had to ask myself now
What are the odds, one group gets a nod, from one holy god?.. or just… CHORUS

Eventually all the music on my site will be freely downloadable. It's my version of online busking. I started my musical life playing in the streets, from New Orleans to Maine, and from the streets of Dublin to the Paris underground.
